NATO's "Collective Intervention" Couldn't Be Expressed More So Than With Pope Benedict Himself At The UN

Pope Benedict Endorses `Collective' Intervention in UN Speech

By Bill Varner

April 18 (Bloomberg) -- Pope Benedict XVI endorsed stronger ``collective'' action to protect human rights, preserve the environment and end humanitarian crises in a speech today to diplomats from 192 nations at the United Nations.

When nations are ``unable to guarantee such protection, the international community must intervene with the judicial means provided in the United Nations Charter and in other international instruments,'' Benedict said. ``It is indifference or failure to intervene that do the real damage.''

From a page out of NATO's Grand Strategy manifesto, The Pope's UN speech couldn't have said it better.
