NATO PARLIAMENTARIANS CONCLUDED FIRST VISIT TO SAUDI ARABIA

A delegation of 13 legislators from nine NATO countries visited Saudi Arabia from 31 March to 4 April and conducted high-level meetings with the Kingdom’s leaders. Led by Karl A. Lamers (Germany), Chairman of the Sub-Committee on NATO Partnerships (PCNP), the group of NATO Parliamentarians discussed a broad range of issues, including Saudi Arabia’s foreign and security perspectives and recent developments in the region.

NATO parliamentarians and Saudi officials repeatedly stressed the importance of reconciliation among different religions. The NATO PA delegation praised the example provided by King Abdullah’s recent initiative calling for dialogue among Muslims, Christians, and Jews. Saudi officials repeatedly said that they welcomed continued dialogue and co-operation with the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
